FAMILY OF JIM HEDGES
Bunk & Wilma Hedges
James Milton "Bunk" Hedges lived his entire life in and around
Uniontown. The third of 5 children born to James A & Bessie Hedges, he
enlisted in the US Army following high school. Bunk proposed to his life
partner Wilma on Dec 7, 1941. They married 2 weeks later and he was soon
on his way to the European Theater of Operations and saw combat action
in North Africa & Italy.
the war Bunk returned to Uniontown where he and Wilma raised 5 children.
He farmed, ran a grocery, held positions in law enforcement, and in 1974 was
elected Sheriff of Union County. Following his term in office Bunk remained in
county law enforcement until he retired. Bunk was an Honorary Kentucky Colonel,
a member of the Masonic & Odd Fellows Lodges, and the Methodist Church.

These are Bunk's parents, and Jim's grandparents.
Mark Steven Hedges are born and raised in Uniontown,
the youngest of 5 children of James M "Bunk" & Wilma Hedges. he married
Ruth Greenwell, and they had 2 daughter, Jona & Chasity. Mark was an avid
hunter. He was killed in a coal mine explosion along with 9 co-workers at
William Station Mine in Union County on Sep 13, 1989.
